A Day in the HVAC Field Keeping Nebraska Comfortable

Morning Preparations

The day starts early at 6:00 AM when my work truck pulls into the Anderson Bros. parking lot. After our morning briefing and safety check, I load up with the necessary parts and tools for today’s service calls across central Nebraska.

First Call: Emergency AC Repair

My first stop takes me to Kearney, where a family’s air conditioning unit stopped working overnight. During our Nebraska summers, this is considered an urgent call. After diagnosing the issue, I find a failing capacitor – a common problem that can fortunately be resolved quickly.

Mid-Day: Installation Project

By mid-morning, I’m heading to Holdrege for a scheduled HVAC installation. This is a full system replacement that will take several hours. It’s rewarding work, knowing that we’re helping improve the comfort and efficiency of someone’s home.

Afternoon Service Calls

The afternoon includes:
– Routine maintenance check in Gibbon
– Thermostat programming in Minden
– Air filter replacement education for a new homeowner
– Quick diagnostic check in Grand Island

End of Day

Before heading back to base, I ensure all paperwork is complete and my truck is restocked for tomorrow. It’s been a fulfilling day helping our neighbors stay comfortable in their homes and businesses.

The best part of working in HVAC service is the variety each day brings and the satisfaction of solving problems for our community members. Whether it’s the height of summer or dead of winter, we’re here to keep central Nebraska’s indoor climate just right.
