Rise and Shine: A Typical Day at Sentry Heating
As the sun peeks over the horizon in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, I’m already up and preparing for another busy day as an HVAC technician at Sentry Heating. Our team serves multiple areas, including Hoover, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Meadowbrook, and Pelham, so each day brings new challenges and opportunities.
6:30 AM: Starting the Day
My day begins with a quick breakfast and a strong cup of coffee. I check my schedule and gather my tools, ensuring I have everything I need for the day’s assignments.
7:30 AM: First Call – AC Installation in Hoover
Our first stop is a new home in Hoover where we’re installing a central air conditioning system. This job typically takes most of the day and involves:
- Assessing the home’s layout
- Installing ductwork
- Positioning the outdoor unit
- Connecting the system
- Testing and calibrating the new AC
12:30 PM: Lunch Break
After making good progress on the installation, we take a quick break for lunch. It’s a great opportunity to recharge and prepare for the afternoon tasks.
1:30 PM: AC Service Call in Mountain Brook
Our next stop is a service call in Mountain Brook. A homeowner reported their air conditioner isn’t cooling effectively. We diagnose the issue, which turns out to be a refrigerant leak. We repair the leak and recharge the system, restoring cool comfort to the home.
4:00 PM: Emergency Repair in Pelham
As we’re wrapping up in Mountain Brook, we receive an emergency call from Pelham. A family’s air conditioner has completely stopped working on a sweltering summer day. We rush over to assess the situation, identify a faulty capacitor, and quickly replace it, getting their AC back up and running.
6:30 PM: Wrapping Up the Day
After a long but satisfying day, I head back to the Sentry Heating office. I complete my paperwork, restock my truck for tomorrow, and touch base with my supervisor about the day’s events.
Working at Sentry Heating is never dull. From HVAC installations to AC services and air conditioner repairs, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable. It’s a rewarding career that keeps me on my toes and allows me to make a real difference in people’s lives.
